We’ve been offiline for a while but are getting back on track with a more regular series of posts from myself and the team. We’d like to kick this off with a short post about our great new partnership with Moviebeat in the UK. Here is a pilot show for weekly breakdown of the hottest films they recently created for our media. This edit is great for any cinema chain that looking to host what’s hot.

Here is a quick tech update on some of the new and interesting technology there is out there for watching online video. In December last year the Guardian listed Cooliris as part of their 100 sites to look out for in 2009.

We are really excited to tell you that Preview Networks is now an official film trailer partner for this new revolutionary way of searching the internet.

So, what is Cooliris?

It’s a intuitive and slick new way to watch and visually search image and video online and represents the cutting edge in interactive, user generated content aggregation technology.

You install an add-on to Firefox, Safari or IE creating a shiny, black 3D wall of content you can quickly flick through. The easiest way to describe it is it gives you the ‘Minority Report’ effect of seeing a wall of your friend’s photos, videos etc.

Cooliris is quickly gaining attraction online with over 40,000 downloads a day. It doesn’t just look amazing – it saves the end user a lot of time too, and mainstream media like the New York Times have been singing its praise.

Besides just being able to look at filmtrailer.com through Cooliris, we supply content to their ‘Discover’ section, which means that users in the UK can see our film trailers in the Movie Trailer section.

The internet is constantly changing and the way your customers consume content today will not be the way they do it tomorrow. A move away from text-heavy browsing towards multimedia browsing is perfect for video content. We’re constantly looking out for what the next big thing online and mobile is going to be.

Here is the impact one PR agency made in the UK. Examples below clearly demonstrate the contrast between impact of Agency’s  seeding campaign for the trailer before release in comparison with a similar film where the PR agency didn’t use our products and services (see Example 2).

The red arrow denotes the period of: week of & week before release. We still have some time to go as its only Thursday but compare it with the traffic that was generated for the other title below.

To futher compare the two campaigns have a look at the run up to the release of the movie. Example 1 generated far more trailer impressions in the run up to release just compare week 13 (16,000) on the Example 1 and Week 10 (8,000 trailer impressions) on the Example 2. Over half the traffic for the Example 1 has been generated from the embed codes we supplied to the PR agency – That’s 35,000 plus trailer impressions in the run up-to the film launching!

This seeding traffic is highly important trailer views. If we can get the Digital PR agencies to consistently use our embed codes and streaming links we could provide a valuable stats to the distributors that will allow them to see how the film is being received in the run up to release.

The tech team and sales department have been arguing long and hard into the cold winter nights here in Denmark. Creative friction has led to the development of the next funky redesign of Media Park – our ready made embed film trailer channel.

New Media Card

The logic behind Media Park is to make it extremely easy for websites to implement a dedicated film channel. The embed code is a simple copy paste Iframe snippet for more technical info click here.

Earlier Media Parks were robust but looked like ugly ducklings. The latest iterations present the user with a range of movie posters in place of links that expand when rolled over with the mouse (ok currently this is still pending). The clunky script at the base of the page has been exchanged for embed code boxes to help in the viral spread of this tool and the great content. Most importantly the user is presented with larger number of movie trailers to peruse.
